Small-scale resort on the Boven-Suriname river about three hours by boat from Atjoni, selling fully catered three- to six-day tours guided by people from the surrounding villages.

Pingpe is about as far up the Boven-Suriname as the lodges go: roughly three and a half hours by boat from Atjoni, which is itself the last village on the river you can reach by road. That distance is the point of the place.
The resort sells fully catered tours of three to six days rather than bed nights. Among them is a "Back-to-Basic" trek that swaps the cabins for hammocks under mosquito nets at a temporary camp called Anjoemara. Tours are led by a guide who comes from the interior, and the resort's own pages put the weight on culture, wildlife, forest and medicinal plants rather than on facilities.
A note on checking it yourself: the resort's front page was in maintenance mode when we read it, showing only its tagline. The tours pages behind it were live and current, and they are the source for everything above. A site half in maintenance is not a closed business, but it does mean details are worth confirming by email before you pay.
