Best for

  • first jungle stay
  • short packages

Knini Paati is an island resort in the Sipaliwini district, sold from Paramaribo as an all-inclusive package: three days at €345 a head, four at €430, described by the operator as carrying no extra costs.

The journey is the standard Upper Suriname one. Departure is at 09:00 from Paramaribo, with a stop at Brownsweg, and then Atjoni, where the road ends and the boat begins. Accommodation is described as lodges with balconies, hammocks and en-suite bathrooms, with all meals and soft drinks included.

Two things we could not confirm, and therefore do not state: the resort's exact position on the river and its distance from Paramaribo. Both circulate widely. Neither comes from a source we could read.

It is a common choice for a first stay in the interior — short packages, a fixed price, no flying — which is exactly what it is good at.
