Best for app-based booking, travellers used to ride-hailing.
Ride is a Surinamese ride-hailing app run by Ride Technologies N.V. It works the way the global apps do: separate passenger and driver apps, a fare estimate shown before you confirm, and ratings in both directions, with driver profiles showing a photo, vehicle details and reviews. It matches passengers aged 16 and over with both private drivers and licensed taxi drivers, and its service area is Greater Paramaribo. The company says the average pick-up time is eight minutes.
It matters because the international apps do not operate here: sources we read report that Uber, Bolt and Grab are absent from Suriname, which leaves telephone taxi centrales and Ride as the ways to get a car without hailing one.
What we cannot tell you is how well it works today. The pilot was announced for October 2019, after three postponements, with university students as the first users. On 2 September 2026 the website was live with a 2026 copyright and app store links, but we found no independent confirmation of driver numbers or reliability. Install it before you need it and have a taxi centrale number as a backup.
