Tourtonne's is one of Paramaribo's taxi centrales, the telephone dispatch companies that are the normal way to get a taxi in a city without ride-hailing. It operates from Tourtonnelaan 142 and answers around the clock: the short number is 1690 from a local phone, +597 422 429 from abroad, and 475 734 or 425 380 locally. The company says it has been in the business for more than 25 years and runs more than 100 taxis with trained and certified drivers; those are its own figures.
Beyond city rides it sells airport transfers to and from Johan Adolf Pengel airport at Zanderij, a booking app, and a set of taxi tours that you can take as packaged or adapt: a city tour of the historic centre, a Commewijne plantation tour and a Para district tour. It also carries freight.
There is no published tariff on the site; ask the price when you book. On 2 September 2026 the company's website was served over an invalid security certificate, which is a nuisance rather than a warning sign, but use the phone numbers above rather than any form on the site.
