Suriname entry requirements: visa, e-tourist card and entry fee

Suriname's entry formalities are handled entirely online through the government's authorised e-visa portal, which issues visas, e-tourist cards and the entry-fee voucher travellers must show at airline check-in. Most nationalities may enter visa-free for tourism or family visits for up to 90 days but still pay a per-entry fee.

Suriname's entry formalities are handled entirely online, through the government's authorised e-visa portal, which issues visas, e-tourist cards and the voucher for the entry fee. The procedure has been fully digital since 2019.

Three things about how it works, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' own page as it stood on 21 August 2026. Most nationalities may enter for tourism or a family visit for up to 90 days without a visa — but still pay a per-entry fee, quoted then at USD or EUR 50 plus a VFS Global service fee of USD or EUR 8. That fee is charged on every entry, not once. And proof of payment must be shown at airline check-in, not on arrival, so it has to be done before you fly.

There are exemptions — visa holders, PSA card holders, residence permit holders, CARICOM nationals, diplomatic passports and transit passengers among them — and a list of nationalities that still need a visa, in force since 1 May 2023, with Cuba, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic requiring both a visa and a tourist card.

We deliberately do not reproduce the nationality list or treat the fee as a standing price. Both change, and getting either wrong at check-in costs you the flight. Read the government page itself before you book.
