Sarinah, Verlengde Gemenelandsweg 187: Javanese restaurant open Monday to Saturday 07:30–17:00, closed Sunday (hours from a directory, not confirmed by the restaurant). Phone +597 492045. Javanese-Surinamese dishes, filled sandwiches and loempias in a garden with a pond.
Best for javanese food, lunch.
Sarinah is a Javanese-Surinamese restaurant on the Verlengde Gemenelandsweg, on the road out towards the Hermitage Mall rather than in the historic centre.
Its useful characteristic is the timing. Directory listings put it open from 07:30 to 17:00 Monday to Saturday and closed Sunday, which makes it a lunch and daytime option rather than a dinner one, the opposite of most restaurants a visitor will find recommended. If you want Javanese food in the middle of the day without going out to Blauwgrond, this is the answer.
