Peperpot is a nature park on a former coffee and cocoa plantation in Commewijne, at Hadji Iding Soemitaweg 32, Nieuw Meerzorg — close enough to Paramaribo to be a half-day rather than an expedition. It is open every day from 08:00 to 16:00, on +597 354 547.
What makes it worth the crossing is that the plantation has not been erased. The forest has grown back over the planting rather than replacing it, so the old coffee and cacao trees are still standing under the canopy, now carrying bromeliads and orchids. You are walking through an agricultural landscape being reabsorbed, which is a different experience from walking through primary forest.
The park names jaguar, capybara, sloth, anaconda and a long bird list among its wildlife. That is the operator's account of what lives there, not a promise of what you will see; treat a morning here as a walk that may include animals.
An entrance fee, bicycle hire and guided-tour pricing are not stated on the park's site. Its site does carry a "book your stay" link, so some accommodation may exist — confirm directly.
