METS is the operator to talk to if the interior is why you came to Suriname. Unlike the agencies that resell other people's programmes, it runs its own jungle lodges (Awarradam and Palumeu, plus the Kasikasima base camp) with the Maroon and indigenous communities whose land they sit on. Its office is at Anton Drachtenweg 7, Paramaribo, on +597 473 802, with a round-the-clock line for people already upriver.
Prices on its own site on 21 August 2026 started at about EUR 425 for a four-to-five-day Awarradam programme, EUR 665 for Palumeu and EUR 808 for the five-to-eight-day Kasikasima expedition. Those are starting prices in euros and will move.
The Surinamese government reported METS making a successful restart after a period of disruption, most likely the post-2020 collapse in travel, and the live pricing on its site is consistent with it trading normally again.
Guiana dolphins live in the Suriname River estuary between Leonsberg and Braamspunt, twenty minutes by boat from the city. Six operators sell an afternoon trip from EUR 27.50 to EUR 60, leaving around 16:00 and back after sunset. Sightings are never guaranteed.

The ruins of a seventeenth-century Jewish plantation settlement on the Suriname River, about 50 km south of Paramaribo, inscribed as Suriname's third World Heritage property, and second cultural one, in 2023. Visited on a day tour by road or by boat, usually with a swim at Overbridge. Published prices from EUR 65 to EUR 150.
