Suriname tour operators compared: which one fits which traveller?

Short answer: no operator is best for everything, and the differences that decide a booking are prosaic ones: whether a price is printed, how many people a departure needs, whether there is a date you can join, and how you pay. Jenny Tours has the longest day-tour list and daily departures from two to four people. Orange Travel has the clearest English product pages. METS owns the fly-in lodges. SUforYou publishes dated departures with seats left. Cardy cycles. Switi Tours, owned by the owner of this site, runs small-group city, food and day trips and books direct.

Which operator should I book with?

The differences that decide a booking are prosaic: whether a price is printed, how many people a departure needs, whether there is a date you can join, and how you pay. The table ranks nothing; read down the column that matters to you.

Every row below is built from the operator's own website as read on 6 September 2026. "Day trips" and "Multi-day" count the products we recorded with a published page, not the operator's full range; an operator with a longer catalogue than we could read is not penalised, and the number is a floor.

What each operator is actually for

Jenny Tours has the broadest published day-tour list of any operator we read: about thirty items, from a EUR 22 walking city tour to Bigi Pan, Galibi and Blanche Marie, each with a price. Its product pages state a daily departure from a minimum number of people, which varies by tour: two for the city tour and Galibi, three for the Commewijne plantation day and Jodensavanne by road, four for the dolphin trip. It is the only operator whose site we read that prints a Chamber of Commerce number (66507), a cancellation scale (25, 50 and 100 percent at 21 to 30, 10 to 20 and under 10 days) and a webshop with iDeal, Sofort, credit card and PayPal. The site is in Dutch. Its office at Waterkant 5c is one of the few you can walk into from the historic centre.

Orange Travel publishes English product pages with a minimum group size on each, which is what a traveller planning from abroad needs: two for the Commewijne river cruise, Overbridge and Fredberg, three for Brownsberg, four for the Jodensavanne boat trip, and, on the dolphin page, six in the header and four in the body. Fredberg runs on fixed days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday). Prices are marked "from" and the Brownsberg page adds 10 percent VAT on top. There is an online request form; the payment page lists methods but no cancellation terms, so ask before you pay.

Cardy Adventures describes itself as operating since 1992 and is the cycling operator: the one-day Peperpot ride at EUR 65 and the two-day Commewijne plantation bike tour at EUR 185, in groups the page prints as both 4–14 and 5–14. It also sells the dolphin trip (EUR 35, at least three people, daily on request), Jodensavanne, Brownsberg over one or two days, Galibi and Bigi Pan. Its site has several internal inconsistencies we recorded rather than resolved: Jodensavanne at EUR 65 on the product page and EUR 75 on the overview, a dollar sign on the dolphin price in one place, and a Galibi link that opens a Bigi Pan page. Booking is by contact form, phone or WhatsApp.

METS Travel & Tours is the operator behind the fly-in lodges at Awarradam, Palumeu and Kasikasima, with fixed departures on Mondays and Fridays from Zorg en Hoop and stated maximums (24 at Awarradam, 20 at Palumeu). It also lists fifteen day trips with "from" prices, including the cheapest published Brownsberg day (from EUR 68) and Peperpot bike tour (from EUR 55), but its day-trip pages do not state minimum group sizes or whether the price is per person. The office at Anton Drachtenweg 7 is open Monday to Friday 07:00–16:00.

SUforYou is the only operator in this set whose site shows dated group departures with the number of places left, per tour, together with the minimum for the date to run: two for Fredberg at the regular rate, four for the Commewijne boat tour. That is the most useful single page in Suriname for someone travelling alone or as a couple, and it is in Dutch only, with a translation widget rather than an English edition. Prices are "from" per person: Fredberg from EUR 285, Commewijne from EUR 60, Kabalebo from EUR 1,258.

Access Suriname Travel publishes a Dutch site with "prices from" on some product pages (Jodensavanne combined with Overbridge from EUR 85, Brownsberg from EUR 105) and a single page-level starting price of EUR 79 covering three different boat trips, so it is not clear what each costs. No minimums are stated. It also runs airport transfers, which is where it appears elsewhere on this site.

Waterproof Tours Suriname, founded in 2009, no longer publishes a tour catalogue: on 6 September 2026 its site presented four business lines (travel, destination management, film and media, expat services) and dolphins appear only in descriptive copy. The sunset and dolphins product it used to sell under its own name is on sale through other operators and a reseller. Treat it as a company to contact for a tailored or corporate programme rather than one to compare prices with.

Switi Tours is owned by the owner of this site, which is why it sits in this list with the same columns as everyone else and no more. It started in 2026, so it has the shortest track record here and, by its own statement, no reviews yet. Its published programme is ten small-group products in and around the city: a walking tour (EUR 35), a food tour (EUR 55), Commewijne by boat and road (EUR 75), Colakreek (EUR 60), Brownsberg and the reservoir (EUR 95), an evening in Blauwgrond, a Sunday morning, a cooking class and two genealogy days. Groups are two to eight; tours run from two persons; booking is direct by form, WhatsApp or email in Dutch, English or Sranantongo, with free cancellation to 48 hours. It does not sell dolphins, Jodensavanne, Galibi, Bigi Pan or the interior lodges. Where it does sell the trip you want, this site puts its booking button first; that is the commercial arrangement, and it is stated on every page it appears.

All Suriname Tours is a reseller rather than an operator: its listings do not name the company running each trip, its prices for several products are identical to METS's, and it is the one seller in this set that states online payment by iDeal, Apple and Android Pay or bank transfer. Useful for booking from abroad with a card; ask who is actually running the boat.

Choosing on the thing that matters

It does not tell you who is better on the day. No review, rating or reputation is recorded on this site because none is collected, and we would rather say that than invent a ranking. It does not cover Does Travel & Cadushi Tours, whose site listed only international destinations when we read it, or the platform listings on Viator and GetYourGuide, which blocked our reader; their prices are therefore not recorded here. Cancellation terms are missing for Orange Travel, Cardy, METS and Access because their sites do not print them. And "from" means from: the price on the day depends on group size, season and VAT, and the only number that counts is the one in the operator's written confirmation.
