Best for families, first-time visitors, half-day trips.

The sunset and dolphins trip is an afternoon on the water from Leonsberg, the jetty at the northern edge of Paramaribo. A traditional covered tent boat heads down the Suriname River to where it meets the Commewijne, the stretch where Guiana dolphins are regularly seen, with a stop at Rust en Werk, a former plantation on the Commewijne bank, before turning back to watch the sun go down over the river. A reseller listing gives a 16:00 departure, about four hours in total, snacks and soft drinks included, EUR 28 per person and a minimum of three passengers; reviews of the operator's own version mention wine, beer and rum on board, so inclusions vary by who sells you the seat.

The product is developed by Waterproof Tours Suriname N.V. (Waterproof Destination Management), phone +597 896 2927, but on 2 September 2026 the trip's own page on their site returned an error while the trip was still on sale through other Paramaribo agencies. Book through whichever seller confirms the date, and ask what drinks are included.

Dolphins are wild animals and sightings are not guaranteed. Take a light rain jacket even in the dry season.
